ABOUT ME
I believe there is a strength within all of us, even when we can’t always see it for ourselves. For me, counselling is about creating the space to be curious about yourself, make sense of your experiences and reconnect with your own strengths.
My own experience of therapy helped me understand myself differently and recognise that change is possible, even when life feels difficult or overwhelming. Having a space where I could talk openly and feel heard without judgement had a lasting impact on me, and ultimately inspired me to train as a counsellor.
My approach is warm, down-to-earth and collaborative. I’m an integrative counsellor, drawing on person-centred therapy, CBT and Gestalt. I work in a trauma-informed way and recognise that there is no one-size-fits-all approach. Together, we can explore patterns that may be holding you back, make sense of how past experiences are affecting your present, and find ways to relate to yourself and others that feel healthier and more fulfilling. My aim isn’t to tell you what to do, but to help you develop a deeper understanding of yourself and feel more able to make choices that are right for you.
I’ve always been interested in the connection between our emotional and physical wellbeing. Alongside counselling, I am a trained yoga teacher and have spent time exploring how movement, body awareness, creativity and nature can support us. Sometimes we can explain our feelings in words; other times, we might notice them through tension in our bodies, a sense of restlessness or feeling disconnected from ourselves. If it feels helpful, we can explore these experiences together as part of our work.
Before starting in private practice, I worked in education settings supporting young people and young adults experiencing anxiety, depression and trauma. This has given me insight into the pressures people face, the impact these can have on confidence and relationships, and how difficult it can be to ask for help when we’re struggling.
Outside of work, I’m a mum of two and enjoy walking my dog, reading, crocheting and preserving and pickling things! I’m a big believer in the small, everyday things that help us feel more connected and grounded.
